![]() If I import the STEP file and select a face of the part and create a sketch on it I get asked if I 'want to make an independent copy'. Maybe I missed something or perhaps someone can offer some advice here. It seems like it should be a common problem but I've not found any answers online. I am able to import the box but I can't work out how to be able to use techniques I have learned thus far (sketching, attaching sketches to faces, using the pocket tool etc.) to work on the imported elements. I am trying to import a STEP file of a diecast box which I then want to work with (by making holes in it). However I am asking for help for the first time because I want to work with imported STEP files. I have a little background in SolidWorks so it has been fairly easy to grasp the basic concepts of FreeCAD. It performs remarkably for something not yet at a '1.0' release. First off, I am very pleased to have found FreeCAD - what a great project. ![]()
